Dear Campers, Parents, Staff & Friends,
Happy New Year! We hope that the holidays were full of joy and friendship and that you all had fun and relaxed over your break from school or work. Whether you were getting big fluffy turns on the mountain, putting your feet up at the beach or just spending some quality time with friends and family, we hope that you were able to make the most out of your vacation time. Now that 2015 is upon us, many of you are thinking about resolutions for the New Year. Creating resolutions can give us the opportunity to reflect on our past and actively make choices that will better ourselves, our environment, and our future. In reflecting on the past year, we have acknowledged just how lucky we are. This year we are resolving to not lose sight of how fortunate we are and to continue to express our gratitude for our wellbeing. We have been so privileged to be surrounded by such an amazing community of exceptionally kind, caring, compassionate and empathetic individuals. We’re talking about you!! Thank you to all of our camp friends near and far for being a part of our community and for making it a community we are elated to be a part of.
The snow has been flying at camp, and the icy cold temperatures have arrived. At the end of December, there were a few days in a row when the mercury never got above zero!! The snowy weather makes for some beautiful scenery, but we sure prefer those warm summer months up there. Before the holidays we made it out to Los Angeles and Nashville, and it was great to see those of you who joined us at our reunions. Thanks for coming! This month we will wind down a bit from all of our typical travel mania and host a reunion right here in Tucson. February will include trips to New Orleans for the ACA national conference and Atlanta for a reunion there. We have had such a fantastic time visiting with our “old- timers” as well as some new families along the way. Our enrollment continues to blow us away, with several age groups full in first and second session.
Welcome back to the following “old-timers” who re-enrolled last month: BEN GOLDMAN of Glencoe, IL; MICHAEL KAPLAN of Bayside, WI; TRE SMITH of Chicago, IL; AIDAN FELMAN of Houston, TX; CAMERON HARDEGREE of North Barrington, IL; JACK VAN OOYEN of Brooklyn, NY; CHARLIE CALLEN and DAVID WINE of Oak Park IL; SAM SCHNEIDER of River Forest, IL; and DYLAN STERN of St. Louis, MO. Great to have you boys back!
And welcome aboard to the following new campers who will join us this summer: BUDDY ASKENAZI of Denver, CO. DUSTIN GREENWOOD of Prairie Village, KS, RAYJ RIKIMARU of St. Louis, MO; and RODRIGO CRUZ of Puebla, Mexico. What a great group of guys! You’re all in for an amazing summer!!
YO PARENTS: Now that the days are getting longer again (have ya noticed?), it is time for your January deposits to be remitted to camp. Many of you have already done so, which we appreciate very much. We will email a reminder your way, and remember, you can pay by check to our Tucson address, or with your credit card online. Please remember that credit card charges do incur a 2.75% surcharge. Deposits are due January 15th. Thanks.
Just to help you get a little organized, please use the dates below as a little reminder about some benchmarks that are coming up for camp. We also want to remind you that you'll be able to order your camp clothing and equipment from Every Thing Summer Camp for the first time this year. If you order too early, your camper could outgrow the cool stuff you buy before camp starts! However, if you order too late, like after May 1st, you run the risk that your order may not arrive in time for your camper to bring it to camp. We'll remind you of this in March, and the Packing list is already available on your Parent Keylog Page if you’d like to have a look.
Very soon our new and improved CampDoc system will launch. CampDoc is our medical information and medication partner, and it is through their website that you will provide us with all of the medical information we need for your son. If your son will take any pill-form medication on a regular schedule (i.e. every day medication…not just as-needed), those meds will have to be filled through CampDoc’s pharmacy. We will email you when that system is ready for you to begin filling out the health history form.

We want to share with you some information about a very special member of our camp community. CHAD KAMEN was a CIT last summer, and though he had been with us for 5 years, Chad had a secret he had been keeping all along. Since he was a young teenager, Chad has taken up the cause of fighting hunger in his home state of Kentucky. At the ripe old age of 13, Chad founded an organization called Team Food Chain. Since those earlier days (he’s now 16 years old), Chad’s team has raised tens of thousands of dollars for the cause. It wasn’t really a secret that Chad was keeping…he’s just a modest guy who happens to be a super hero in his “off-season” life. To learn more about Chad and Team Food Chain, we encourage you to click here to see his website. We’ve made a donation to his group, and we hope you’ll consider doing so as well.
