Dear Campers, Parents, Staff, Alums, & Friends,
Ahhhh....Autumn! If it can't be summer, then let it be Autumn. We know all of your Midwestern types are probably enjoying this great season. If you're down south, or out west, or in the desert southwest like we are, then the word doesn't probably mean as much to you. But we know what you folks with seasons
are experiencing now, and we'll admit it...we're jealous! We won't be in a month or two, but we are now. Up at camp, the leaves have turned, and although the days have been very nice and mild, the nights are becoming crisp, and there are hints that winter is on the way. Our caretaker, Greg, has sent us a few photos from the athletic fields that we hope you enjoy. He's been a busy guy up there, and that always results in some great stuff for us to see when we return in the spring.
Here in Tucson, it is still crazy hot outside, and the office has been a busy place. We have been cranking out copies of the amazing 2009 Reunion Video so we can have them for you at the Camp Reunions we'll have around the country in the coming months. As you may know, RYAN COHEN spent the summer taking lots of video footage, as did lots of other folks at camp. After camp ended, Ryan really got down to work, and he produced an incredible video for us. Wait till you see it!! Ryan is a professional video editor in the Chicago area, and his skills are so evident in this amazing movie. We can't wait to show it to you guys!
We know we've mentioned this to you a few times, but we're really gearing up for the fact that 2010 will be our 50th summer. We think the occasion calls for a special logo that we'll put on all sorts of stuff, so we did the first thing that came to mind...we called our Assistant Director and resident artsy guy, RICK JONES, and asked him to create a logo. And he did a great job of that. You'll see it a lot this year, and we hope you like it.
First of all, we want to apologize to everyone for the website problems that we had last month. The problem resulted from a change that our hosting company made that we had to adjust to. Fortunately, we have a fantastic web support company, and they got us up and running again as quickly as possible. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. At this time of year, our website is the place to read newsletters like this one, to get an advanced view of our schedule of winter reunions, and also to complete and submit a camper application. We hope you'll do all of those things soon, if you haven't already. We have also updated all of the reunion videos online, which are accessible from all Camper, Staff, and Alumni Keylog pages by clicking the "Camp Videos" link. You'll find reunion videos from just about every summer dating back to 1993.
We'd also like to remind say thanks to everyone who has submitted a survey to us about your experiences at camp last summer, and to ask those of you who have not yet done so to take a moment and submit your feedback to us. Here are the link you'll need:

YO EVERYONE! We want to call your attention to a fantastic video production that focuses on the great successes achieved by the Providence St. Mel School in Chicago. If that school sounds familiar, it's because this school is our main source of scholarship campers in Chicago that come to Timberlane via the Camp for All Kids Foundation. We have always admired the work of the school as it has been represented in the fine kids that come to camp. This film illustrates that great work and the life-changing impact it has had on the students who have attended. To see a trailer of the video, please click here. If you live in the Chicago, LA, San Francisco, New York or Washington, DC area, you can find a listing of the theaters that will show the film by clicking here.

First of all, for those of you who were concerned, MICHAEL STARR and family are all safe in spite of the flooding that they endured in the Atlanta area. Michael did get a "snow day" of sorts in the process. In the Dallas area, SAM KAHN made his middle school tennis team. In the Houston area, KEVIN DAILY was recently able to show off the awesome water skiing skills he developed at camp to some of his friends from home. HARRISON ATLAS auditioned for a part in a play being put on by the high school he will attend in about 4 years, and he was selected for the part of Dill in "To Kill a Mockingbird." Break a leg, Harrison...not literally. GRANT ZUCKER injured his arm in a trampolining incident, but he's okay, and he recently delivered heart pillows to patients at Texas Children's Hospital. What a guy. In the Chicago area, JACK GOMBERG has been involved in CircEsteem, performing Circus shows in various locations (check out the slide show below). JACOB ELIAS is playing football. Bar Mitzvah congrats to ROSS SINAR who celebrated last month. In Denver, DAVID GLAZER is playing tennis and football. His first reception of the season resulted in 6 points!!
In the Denver area, HITCH & CORRIE HITCHENS have moved into their new house and are in the long process of unpacking. They’re also following the Rockies baseball team closely, and looking forward to a showdown with the Cardinals in the playoffs. BRIAN STRAIN is working as a computer teacher, taking classes himself, and also taking in some Rockies games. DEBBIE PURCELL is working with 4-year olds at a child care center, and planning a conference for para educators in Colorado. Phoenix, AZ finds JOSH MC GRATH applying to some powerhouse colleges for next year. IAN BROWN has arrived in Nelsonville, where he is attending Hocking College, majoring in Eco Tourism and working in their Outdoor Pursuits program. It is college app season also for JEREMY SUTTON who is in Houston applying to schools in the US and Canada. In the Chicago area, RYAN COHEN is back to work as a video editor, and apparently his supervisor was so impressed with our Reunion Video that he gave Ryan a promotion. That's how it works, kids. He also just finished doing some video work for JASON SCHWARTZ'S Bar Mitzvah. RYAN ELIAS recently got a job as a life guard at a local country club. COLBY SHARLIN is deep into the college hunt himself, also applying to some great schools. In Bloomington, IL, BILL KNOBBE is playing some Fall baseball and has applied for a RA position in the dorms. It was a big month for HANNAH JONES in Mooresville, IN. Hannah led her soccer team to the conference title, scoring the winning goal in the championship game. She was also elected to be a princess on the Homecoming court, which means she had to wear a dress. Congrats, Hannah. EMILY JONES is working hard in her high school senior year, and she is running cross country. RICK & HOLLY JONESare both high school teachers, and Rick helps to feed homeless people in an outreach program through his church.JEFF "MEL" MELROSE recently played tour guide to some of our international counselors at Walt Disney World, as KEVIN SHEEHAN, CRAIG GAMBLE, and LOGAN FUNNEL joined him in Orlando (see slideshow). Mel is an elementary school teacher in Celebration, FL. SCOTTY and MICHAEL BREEN managed to avoid any international incidents as they traveled together through some fascinating parts of Eastern Europe. They have recently parted ways, with Michael journeying to Bulgaria and having adventures there, while Scotty has settled in Edinburgh, Scotland where he'll go to school for the semester. Very recently, Scotty was visited in Edinburgh by SAM KAHN, who is also spending the semester in Europe, studying in London.
